Old Cordell Academy in Cordell, OK. Opened in 1906, under auspices of the Dutch Reformed Church, this pioneer school taught the youth here in Christian living. Its motto was "Labor omnia vicit." Presidents to its close in 1911 were: Myron B. Keator, Dr. Jacobe Poppen, Rev. C. H. Spaan. Teachers included Harold C. Amos, Laura B. Hilger and Valonia Corley. Charlie Speed, son of Henry Lewis Speed and Lucy Abbott Speed, attended this school for a brief period. He can be seen between the third and forth row from the bottom on the left side.
